The 1.0 release of Darkest Dungeon 2 includes 12 playable characters and a story that spans five acts. Developer Red Hook says that they are " thrilled to be back on Steam." Today, Darkest Dungeon 2 hits version 1.0 and with that milestone comes a full release of the game on Steam. No word yet on whether the game will make the journey to consoles.For almost two years now, an early access release of Darkest Dungeon 2 grew and matured on the Epic Games Store.

While that would put it up against some heavy competition, Red Hook hopes to start winning people over with a free demo that will run for the next week. On Monday, the studio announced that the sequel to its 2015 RPG will receive its 1.0 update in May. After about a year and a half in early access, the team at Red Hook Studios is ready to fully release Darkest Dungeon 2.
